Shypoke 2021 Charbono ‘Le Corbeau” Estate, Calistoga

Winemaker Notes: “Our 2021 Calistoga, Napa Valley Charbono celebrates the remaining 75 acres of Charbono grown on the planet. With this wine, we find ourselves with one hundred and seventeen vintages of growing this heirloom variety and we are still smitten with its intriguing and alluring charms. Black tea, pomegranate, and red cherry aromatics are fulfilled in the mouth, and tension and focus complete the experience.

FMW 95+ Points: The 2021 Shypoke Charono offers up aromas of black and red fruits and fresh flowers.  The palate is rich and lush with a bold texture for black currant, pomegranate, espresso, and a touch of vanilla from the oak barrels.  The wine is medium to full in body, well-balanced, and silky smooth.  The wine finishes with long, silky-grained tannins.  I suggest a good 30-60 minute decant and should age nicely for 10-15 years.
