Seabiscuit 2016 Superfecta Proprietary Red, North Coast

The story of Seabiscuit lives on in the heart of America. Everyone loves the tale of this stocky, knobby-kneed racehorse who triumphed over adversity to become one of the greatest champions of the 20th century. During the 1930s, as America struggled to overcome the Great Depression, the determined spirit of this unlikely victor reflected the mood of the nation. After setting a track record at Santa Anita in 1940, the spectacular racing career of this legendary Thoroughbred came to an end. Seabiscuit was retired to a ranch in Mendocino County’s Redwood Valley, where his memory inspires great winemaking endeavors.  Seabiscuit is buried at the property – no, it is not another Graceland, but you can visit if you like.

Tasting Notes: This is an exceptional red wine blend of four classic  Bordeaux varieties.  This wine name is SUPERFECTA®, a betting term used to predict the first four finishers in the correct sequence within a race.  This is a proprietary super-quality red wine composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with nuances gained with the addition of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.  These four varieties develop mouth-filling fruit flavors, elegance and finesse. The wine has a deep purple color, concentrated ripe fruit aromas and flavors, with a medium-to-robust body.  It has soft tannins and is ideal for drinking now, yet will benefit from further bottle aging for many years
