Wine Spectator 95 Points: “Handsomely built, rich and polished, with deep raspberry and pomegranate flavors laced with smoky pepper, river stone and licorice details that build dynamism toward medium-grained tannins. Grenache, Syrah and Tempranillo”
Vinous 94 Points: The 2019 Double Lucky #8 is smoky in the glass, smoldering up with notes of olive tapenade, musky black currants and rosemary. It’s silky-smooth and supple on the palate, with brisk acidity, enlivening its dark fruits, as saline-tinged minerals add contrast. This leaves salted licorice and hints of sweet spice tapering off with a lovely freshness. While I don’t see the 2019 as a wine for long-term cellaring, it should perform beautifully over the next five to six years. That said, there’s a lot of balanced pleasure to be found here already. The Double Lucky #8 is primarily Grenache with a balance of Syrah and Tempranillo ”
