Winery Notes: “The Stalwart – Honors where it comes from and doesn’t sway. It’s steady and true, a practice of consistent devotion to what it stands for.”
Winery Tasting Notes: “Roar’s latest vintage of Pinot Noir wonderfully captures the essence of winegrowing in the Santa Lucia Highlands. The wine shines in the glass with a pristine ruby color, supported by aromas of raspberries and blackberries. What comes next is classic SLH. Red fruits on the front of the palate shift into layers of cherry cola, thyme, and rosemary herbs wrapped in a supple and leathery texture. Acid finds a subtle harmony throughout the tasting. While this year’s edition offers a little more restraint, it does not lack in the showy and bold character that Roar strives for.”
TWI 93 Points: “The 2022 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands is mainly a blend of Rosella’s, Garys’, and Sierra Mar vineyards with a bit of Pisoni and Sobranes. Medium ruby-purple in color, it shoots from the glass with gregarious notes of black raspberries, mulberries, and Bing cherries leading to touches of lavender oil, spearmint, and wild thyme. The medium to full-bodied palate is packed with vivacious red and black fruits supported by soft tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and berry-laced.”
