FMW 94 Points: ” The 2021 Paloma is a beautiful Merlot, On the nose you are greeted by blackstone fruits and flowery notes. On the palate, this all estate-grown wine (85% Merlot & 15% Cabernet) offers up a lush body that is both plump and fleshy, full-bodied yet silky. The wine showcases intense aromatics that carry through the entire length of this wine, with black and red stone fruits dominating the mid-palate, and hints of chocolate coat the sides. This wine was aged for a good 30 months in French oak barrels, and another 1 year in the bottle. You can pop one now, but you’ll benefit from another year or so in the cellar. This is an age-worthy Melrot for Cabernet lovers, and will show well for 12-15 years.”
Robert Parker 93 Points: “Paloma’s 2021 Merlot includes 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and spent 18 months in one-third new French oak. It then gets 30 months of bottle aging prior to release, so the 2021 makes its debut this summer (2025). Exotic rose-like floral notes emerge on the nose, joined by hints of mint, cherry tomato, and red berries. In the mouth, the wine shows the silky, well-rounded characteristics of ripe Merlot, plump and full-bodied, with a lingering, supple, mocha-tinged finish. Pricing is very reasonable for the quality and pedigree.”
Winery Notes: “Smooth and inviting, the 2021 Merlot opens with subtle plum aromas and a hint of soft cocoa. Its lighter burgundy hue reflects its approachable nature, while a medium body and peppery tannins add depth. The finish is both vibrant and lingering, making it a perfect companion for any dish. ”
