Winemaker Notes: “2021 delivered an ideal vintage. An early spring, consistent mild-warm growing season, and light crop load as well as small berried clusters led us to a reasonably early harvest. The pleasant harvest weather gave us plenty of hang time and excellent concentration during the fermentation process. Focused dark fruit makes way for some brightness on the aromatics and palate, while well-integrated oak and tannins play the role of extending the finish. This will age gracefully over the next 15-25 years.”
Vinous 95+ Points: “The Kenefick Cabernet Sauvignon Chris’s Cuvée captures all of the intensity of this Calistoga site. Black fruit, leather, licorice, smoke, grilled herbs, and chocolate all built in the glass. Ample and resonant, with tremendous richness the wine is positively stellar. Give the firm yet well-integrated tannins a bit of time to soften.”
FMW 96 Points: ”This is a bold and powerful wine that oozes with concentration. On the nose, you’ll be greeted by cocoa, mint, and a touch of toasty oak. The 2021 Chris’ Cuvee is lush and fruit-forward in style, with deep and delicious black and blue stone fruit flavors coating the complex palate. The bold and bright fruit is nicely packaged and finishes with long, silky and fine-grained tannins. With some age, this youngster will showcase more of its hidden assets and gorgeous nuances.“
