FMW 95 Points: “The 2021 Kamen Estate Cabernet Sauvignon shows off a deep garnet-purple color, The nose offers bright and fragrant aromas of dark chocolate, black and blue fruits, violets, and a touch of creme de cassis with hints of spice and tobacco. This youngster is full in body, and lush but showcases a gorgeous mid-palate that is muscular, yet very elegant, and finishes long with silky-grained tannins.”
Vinous 94 Points: “The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is bold and fruity, with tons of forward appeal
and lushness. Even so, it retains considerable freshness. Blueberry jam, spice, new leather, licorice, and creme de cassis fill out the layers effortlessly. This is an especially open-knit, fruity style for Moon Mountain.”
Wine Spectator 94 Points: “A richly fruited red, with lush flavors of plum and blackberry compote, this cruises steadily, offering flashes of warm earth, sweet bay, tobacco and licorice root. The fruit is polished, and the other elements show a little growl, creating a nice contrast throughout. Best from 2025 through 2036.”
Winemaker Notes: “The Kamen Estate Cabernet offers a dazzling array of aromatics. Raspberry pie, strawberry compote, espresso bean, candied cherries, and marzipan are at the forefront. As the wine evolves in the glass, beautiful notes of violets and lavender pop, elevating the opulent fruit. Notes of new suede, black cardamom, and dark chocolate add complexity to the layers. The flavors are sumptuous and wrapped in an envelope of mouthwatering minerality. A framework of seamless tannins completes this incredibly balanced wine and the finish is layered and savory.”
