Hobel 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon “The Cut” Napa Valley 97+ Points

Winery Notes: “The Cut stands as the most muscular wine in the Hobel lineup. It is a deep, opaque purple in color and deep on the palate, with a rich array of blackberry, boysenberry, and raspberry joined with lush plums, black olive, resin, sandalwood, long pepper, and licorice. With a subtle touch of toasty oak, the dense, brooding core is matched by power and structure. The broad finish is even further layered with salt, chocolate, and fine, dusty tannins. Once again, The Cut is a force to be reckoned with.“

FMW 97+ Points: This is the second release of the cut.  It sports a ruby/purplish hue. Sourced from the Winfield vineyard, this wine offers up sultry aromas of blue and blackberries, white chocolate, and pencil-shaving aromas. On the full-bodied palate, this wine boasts loads of remarkable and bright black and blue stone fruits, and a great balance from start to finish. This wine is showing surprisingly well young, but I would recommend cellaring it for some years to come. If you really can’t wait… decant it for a good two+ hours, and you’ll see what this inaugural wine is all about.”
