Robert Parker 96 Points: “The 2022 Syrah Eddie’s Patch was harvested on September 6, just after the Labor Day heat wave began, and although it’s a powerful expression, the Eddie’s Syrah retains elegance and should be long lived in the cellar. The nose offers cassis, blueberry, and violet, and it has a wildness lent by smoky, sanguine undertones reminiscent of beef cooking over a fire. The full-bodied palate is bold but pretty with layer after layer of dark, floral fruit. It’s structured by powdery tannins and fireworks of fresh acidity, and it has a long, pure finish. Just 340 cases were made..”
Jeb Dunnuck 96 Points: “The dark purple 2022 Syrah Eddie’s Patch comes from south-facing slopes along the Mayacamas on red soils and offers notes of blackberries, candied lavender, olive, and a light gamey, ripe feel. Meaty on the palate, it delivers ripe tannins that build a touch on the finish, and it has a more grounded feel, although it does keep freshness. It is going to show its best over the next 10-12 years. It needs a little time in bottle to open, but it would be a killer with steak. Drink 2026-2037..”
Winemaker Notes: “The 2022 Eddie’s Patch Syrah’s aromas and flavors feature rosemary and lavender, black cherry and blackberry pastille, tapenade and peppercorn, potpourri, and tobacco. There’s lovely purity to the wine’s deep core of red-blue-black fruits. Lilting acidity focuses the palate and combines with supple tannins on a finish that features floral notes, licorice, and mineral lift. Decant for an hour and drink between 2025 and 2035. “
