Another addition is yet another gem to Bibiana’s amazing portfolio. The meaning/story behind “Beyond The Threshold” – The realm of the gods is a forgotten dimension of the world we know. And the exploration of that dimension, either willingly or unwillingly, is the whole sense of the deed of the hero. This Chardonnay single bottling represents Bibiana’s commitment to the craft of exceptional white wines from California, after years of education in France and laser-focused training in making Chardonnay around the world. If you liked the 2019 vintage (there was no 2020), you’ll love the 2021 release, as it is any bit as good, if not better!
Bibiana’s Tasting Notes: “This coastal Chardonnay is youthful with pale lemon green hues, introducing a fresh aromatic profile of crisp stonefruit, crushed white flowers, and red appleskin. As the wine is swirled in the glass, hints of toasted almonds and vanilla bean from the élevage in French oak barrels arise. Driven by acidity, this special wine is somehow weightless while showing great density and concentration. It dances across the palate, with flavors of lemon meringue, orange peel, and pear flesh, perfectly balancing minerality with beautiful texture and a long finish.”
FMW 98 Points: The 2022 Cattleya BTT Chardonnay shows an atypical Sonoma Coast vibrancy and minerality on first impact. This lush, full-bodied, but very elegant wine, offers up deep stone fruits, brioche, honeysuckle, and flowery notes from start to finish, all defined by gorgeous aromatics that jump out of the glass. This youngster is beautifully balanced and incredibly well-textured, with an intense, long-lasting finish. This might be one, if not the best, Bibiana has made today!
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Points: “he bright sliver/yellow-hued 2022 Chardonnay Beyond The Threshold is sourced from the Sun Chase Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap and tends to have brighter acidity compared to the Cuvee Number Five. In the glass, it’s zesty and fresh out of the gate, with focused notes of lemon verbena, green apple, flint, crushed stone, and lime blossoms. Medium to full-bodied, it has a lovely linear feel, with delicious concentration and purity as well as a long finish, and it’s going to have a wide window for enjoyment 2024-2034.”
