Tasting Notes: The 2018 Walter Hansel “Estate” Chardonnay is pretty, understated and polished, with all of the signatures that make these wines distinctive. Medium to full in body and very gracious, with lovely aromatic lift and balanced from start to finish. The grapes from the estate were planted between 1976 and 1988 and are a blend of Dijon Clones 95 & 97 and a Hanzell clone.
Vinous 93 Pts: “Hansel’s 2018 Chardonnay The Estate Vineyard is absolutely gorgeous. In 2018, The Estate has an extra kick of freshness and energy that marries well with the Russian River exuberance that is so typical of these wines. The Estate is the most vibrant and floral of these Chardonnays. It is also a fabulous value in today’s world.”
