Winemaker Notes: ” 2021 was a perfect growing season for our old vine Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc blocks. Light straw in color with a green-hay tinge combines with exquisite and lifted aromatics of Meyer lemon zest, passion and stone fruit, and exotic spring flowers. The perfectly ripened fruit sails throughout the mid-plate with a slight creaminess and textural depth and seamless viscosity that seemingly flows into a finish that is framed by perfectly balanced acidity and freshness. The most compelling aspect of this wine is its ability to straddle the ripeness of Napa Valley and the cooler climates it can be grown in around the world.”
Tasting Notes: The 2021 vintage is a blend of 84% Estate Grown Sauvignon Blanc and 16% Estate Grown Semillon. The wine was aged in 20% Stainless Steel and 80% French oak barrels of which 10% were new. The wine offers up-forward fruit that is lush with flavors of melon, citrus, granny smith apples, and peach-like fruit flavors with a touch of minerality on the finish. This is a fun and great-value wine that was sourced from old vines grown on the Scarlett property.
