Royal Prince 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon “Reserve”, Napa Valley 93 Points

This venture is the brainchild of David Green, a seasoned wine executive with over three decades of experience developing, marketing and selling luxury Californian wines – Dana Estate, Cliff Lede, Westwood etc.  The winemaker Maayan Koschitzky got his start in his native Israel before heading to Napa to work for Dalla Valle and Screaming Eagle.  Over the past decade, Maayan has become one of the most respected and talented winemakers in Napa, and his approach of making expressive wines and upholding the highest standards of quality.

Winery Notes: “A plush, opulent, densely textured, full-bodied wine that shows loads of black raspberry fruits, violets, shaved cocoa with polished, sweet tannins. The 2019 Royal Prince Cab is dark and almost opaque in color. It shows aromas of truffle, black cherry, and licorice. The 2019 takes over where its predecessor left off – a massive overachiever. The NDA on the sources for this wine is long and littered with iconic names. At once powerful and richly textured, it also shows flashy acidity and great persistence in the finish.

Tasting Notes: This wine is the real deal and a real steal.  It is very well made and value-minded. The wine is lush, loaded with chocolate, cassis,  mocha, dark-cherry and a whiff of earth.  On the medium to full bodied palate this wine shows off its supple flavors and finishes with a long, silky finish with fine-grained tannins.
