Paul Lato 2018 Pinot Noir “Atticus” John Sebastiano Vyd, Santa Barbara – 97 Points
$84.99
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Points: “Brought up in 65% new barrels (for 15 months), the 2018 Pinot Noir Atticus John Sebastiano Vineyard is a slightly deeper hued release and gives up lots of black raspberry and spiced strawberry fruit as well as subtle background oak, plenty of spice, orange, and incense notes, medium to full body, and bright yet integrated acidity. It’s another wine that’s going to benefit from another year in bottle and shine for 7-8 years or more.

This might be one of Paul’s best interpretations of this great vineyard. Intensely aromatic, lush fruit, medium to full in body, but extremely well-balanced. Bright red stone fruit on the mid-palate with a hint of spice leading into a long silky finish.
Paul Lato Notes: “John Sebastiano is my most eastern vineyard in the appellation with stunning south-facing hillside topography. Combined with its relatively windy locale, this vineyard produces wines of high concentration. This wine has pronounced notes of raspberry and tart blueberry. It has a smooth texture, fine structure, and a zesty long finish with a hint of spice. It needs three years in the bottle but will last 12+ years. Atticus has been an international favorite from its very first vintage.”
