Story: Marie-Laure Ammons founded Nid Tissé, the name itself translates to “woven nest”, in French. A native of France, she studied wine in Burgundy and Bordeaux. Nid Tisse evokes traveling to a new place and making a home – hers being in Napa Valley for nearly 20 years, 18 of them working with Philippe Melka. Nid Tissé reflects a marriage of the old and new world -California sunshine with freshness, texture and ability to gracefully age that are rooted in the tradition of old world wines. Great wines come from great vineyards and she is excited be working with the historic vineyards and some of the great grape growing families in the region, Bacigalupi and Hyde.
Winery Notes: “Of a bright color with pale yellow, very fresh nose with a hint of honeysuckle and key lime. The mouthfeel is ample revealing fresh notes of almond with a nice tension on the finish. The delicate oak nuances allow the wine to linger in the mouth. Aged for 15 Months in 23% Burgundian French New Oak and 21% in Clay Amphorae”
Tasting Notes: In a blind tasting everyone assumed this Nid Tissé Chardonnay was a Grand Cru Burgundy! They were wrong! This is a hidden secret… Nid Tissé is a tiny Chardonnay production sourced from a real Grand Cru grower in the Napa Valley, Hyde! On the nose hints of tropical fruit, on the palate elegance and great intensity. Loaded with Meyer lemon, crisp apple and some tart pineapple and stony minerality. This wine offers texture and elegance from start to finish.
