Vineyard: Intersected by the Santa Ynez River, the cool climate appellation is located between the towns of Buellton and Lompoc in Santa Barbara County, California, Sta. Rita Hills is one of California’s premier cool-climate viticultural regions. Sta. Rita Hills is uniquely situated to receive the maritime influences that create the ideal climate for growing exceptional wine grapes. The high elevation and volcanic soils produce grapes with remarkable concentration and complexity. Morgado Cellars has made our Pinot Noir from Rita’s Crown since 2012.
Tasting Notes: Sourced from the peak of Rita’s Crown, this Pinot Noir stains the glass with a deep garnet hue. The nose is a kaleidoscope of lusciously enticing aromas. The Oolong tea, rose petals, ripe red nectarine, and yuzu rise above the glass as you swirl. Confidently flamboyant this wine gives you more layers with each return to it. Tree-ripened mission fig, black plum, orange zest, wild sage knit together with dense black cherry to a succulent, complete finish. The decadent nature of this Pinot Noir is buttressed by focused acidity that is inherent to this wildly celebrated site.
