Winemaker Notes: “A beautiful canary yellow, slightly straw-colored appearance. Flecked with fine, lingering bubbles. The bouquet is straightforward, dominated by lemon, pear and linden tree aromas. On the palate, the wine’s structure is highlighted by the rounded flavor of quince, the aromatic liveliness of acacia and the softness of strawberry. An extremely tempting wine.”
Grape Varietals: Chenin, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc
Food & Wine Pairing : Vin d’apéritif par excellence, this cuvee could accompany an entire meal:
shellfish, smoked fish, tiered cake.
Winery Notes: Dominated by its medieval castle, the town of Saumur is surrounded by vineyards that are planted on the far western edge of the Touraine on chalky and sandy clay soils. The primary grapes of Saumur are Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc but Chardonnay also excels on these soils. Louis de Grenelle makes Platine from these three grapes combining both estate fruit and fruit that is purchased on long term contracts. Each variety is fermented separately then blended and aged sur latte for 12 months before disgorgement.
