Jonata 2020 Cabernet Franc “El Alma ” Estate, Ballard Canyon 98 Points
$209.99 $199.99
Vinous 98 Points: “The 2020 El Alma de Jonata’s Cabernet Franc-based wine, is ridiculously great. The Franc is way up in 2020, and that results in a heady, explosive red that takes command of all that senses as it demands full attention. An exotic melange of dark red fruit, wildflowers, mocha, spice, and new leather build as the 2020 gains volume and resonance with air, with plenty of supporting structure to wrap it all together. It’s one of the greatest Bordeaux wines I have tasted in Santa Barabar. Wow!!”

Pisoni 2021 Estate Chardonnay, Santa Lucia Highlands 96+ Points
$105.00 $94.99
Jeb Dunnuck 96+ Points: “Another brilliant wine from this family, the 2021 Chardonnay comes all from the estate Pisoni Vineyard in the southern part of the Santa Lucia Highlands. Unfortunately, it’s made in tiny quantities, but I consistently think it ranks with the finest Chardonnay in California. Honeyed lemon, pear, flowers, crushed stone, and a beautiful kiss of toasted walnuts define the aromatics, and it’s medium-bodied, vibrant, and elegant, with a liquid rock-like sense of minerality on the finish. It plays in the more elegant, focused, lengthy style of the vintage and is slightly closed and tight at present. Give bottles another 2-3 years in the cellar and enjoy through 2031. It’s a beautiful Chardonnay.”

Mending Wall 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Tournahu 97 Points
$129.99 $124.95
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Points: “From a site in St. Helena, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Tournahu Vineyard has a darker, herbal, pure, old school Cabernet character in its ripe black fruits, tobacco, gravelly earth, chocolate, and lead pencil-like aromas and flavors. Rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, it has a great texture, polished tannins, and a great finish. This is another wine from this estate that readers should snatch up.”

Pisoni 2021 “Estate” Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands – 96+ Points
$114.99
Jeb Dunnuck 96+ points: “The 2021 Pinot Noir comes entirely from the Pisoni Vineyard in the southern portion of the Santa Lucia Highlands. It was only partially destemmed and was raised in 68% new French oak. It’s a truly gorgeous effort offering serious aromatics of cassis, darker raspberries, spicy oak, graphite, and crushed stone. Incredibly pure, vibrant, and precise aromatically, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a stacked mid-palate, lots of building tannins, and a great finish. This concentrated, focused, age-worthy beauty needs at least 2-3 years to integrate its structure and tannins and will evolve brilliantly over the following decade. Bravo!
Aperture 2021 “Soil Specific” Bordeaux Blend Alexander Valley 95+ Points
$69.99 $64.99
Walter Hansel 2021 Pinot Noir “Cuvée Alyce” Russian River Valley – 95 Points
$49.95
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Points: “Dark and enveloping, the 2021 Pinot Noir Cuvée Alyce is the richest offering in this lineup. Pouring a deep red/purple, it’s saturated with aromas of boysenberry liqueur, lavender, cedar, and licorice. Ample and full-bodied, it remains light on its feet, with mouthwatering lift, well-integrated, ripe tannins, and smoky incense on the back palate. Give it another year or two to shed its considerable baby fat and drink 2025-2035.”
Billecart Salmon Brut Sous Bois Champagne 94 Points IN MAGNUM
$214.99
Robert Parker 92+ Points: “The latest release of Billecart’s NV Brut Sous Bois is excellent, unwinding in the glass with notes of lemon oil, crisp stone fruit, buttery pastry and freshly baked bread. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and elegantly vinous, with chalky phenolic structure and an enlivening pillowy mousse, it’s impressively deep and concentrated, with fine tension and grip. Early renditions of this cuvée tended to be at their best on release, but this impressive effort appears to be built to age.”

Castalia 2021 Pinot Noir “Rochioli Vineyard” Russian River Valley 96 Points
$69.99
FMW 96 Points: “The 2021 Castalia Pinot Noir “Rochioli” is a tiny production gem sourced from what is the equivalent of a “grand cru” vineyard in Burgundy. The wine shows a ruby, almost translucent color, and has intense notes of black cherries, plums, violets, and a whiff of earthiness. This youngster is a real crowd-pleaser, lush, yet elegant, with amazing finesse yet still powerful and intense. This is an amazingly well-made wine that will benefit from short-term cellaring, or a good decant, and should cellar well for a good 10 years.
Coho 2018 Pinot Noir “Stanly Ranch” Carneros Napa Valley 93+ Points
$49.99
James Suckling 92 Points: “Notes of raspberries, strawberries, baking spices and dried flowers. Medium-bodied with plush tannins. Juicy and fruity with floral and spicy character on the finish. Rich and layered.”
Paul Lato 2021 “Suerte” Pinot Noir, Solomon Hills Vineyard, Santa Maria Valley 95 Points
$100.00
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Points: “I always love Lato’s Pinot Noir from this site, and his 2021 Pinot Noir Suerte Solomon Hills Vineyard is no exception. Revealing a ruby hue as well as gorgeous notes of wild strawberries, black tea, toasted spice, and exotic flowers, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a round, layered, supple texture, integrated tannins, and outstanding length. Drink this more up-front, fruit-loaded, gorgeous Pinot Noir over the coming 5-7 years.”
Dunn 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain Napa Valley 97 Points
$179.99
Radio Coteau 2019 Chardonnay Wingtine Sonoma Coast 95 Points
$69.99
Vinous 95 Points: “The 2019 Chardonnay Wingtine is impressive. Large-scaled and ample, the Wingtine is also wonderfully nuanced. There is a sense of transparency to the 2019 that is utterly beguiling. Lemon oil, mint, white pepper, sage and chamomile are some of the many aromas and flavors that develop in the glass. Strong savory and mineral accents add notable complexity.”
Crocker Starr 2018 Brut Sparkling Wine, Carneros Napa Valley
$69.99
Cobb 2018 Pinot Noir Doc’s Ranch “Swan and Calera” Selection” 97 Points
$95.00
Robert Parker 97 Points: “The 2018 Pinot Noir Doc’s Ranch Swan & Calera Selection is scented of red cherries and cranberries with tones of bitter citrus, tobacco leaves, dried flowers and Angostura bitters. Light-bodied, silty and incredibly fresh, its slim frame holds a surprising amount of pure, crunchy fruits, and it finishes with tremendous length and spicy layers. The Swan clone fruit included in this cuvée comes from vines planted in 1995, and the Calera clones were planted in 2011. It’s another 2018 from the Cobb portfolio that offers both ageability and immediate appeal.”

Kamen 2021 “Lava Block” Cabernet Sauvignon, Estate Sonoma 97 Points
$209.99
Vinous 97 Points: “The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Lava Block is a potent, explosive wine. Rocky soils yield a potent, intensely mineral-drenched Cabernet Sauvignon. Crushed rocks, graphite, chocolate, lavender, incense, and crème de cassis all race across the palate, supported by salivating acids and big yet well-balanced tannins.” ”
