Jeb Dunnuck 94 Points: “The base 2019 Collina was originally made from the younger vines of the estate, yet those vines aren’t so young anymore, and this easily stands alone as a brilliant Bordeaux blend. Black cherries, currants, leafy herbs, and subtle floral notes all define the bouquet, and it’s darker, medium to full-bodied, and beautifully balanced on the palate. It’s undeniably delicious and perfect for drinking over the coming 10-15 years.”
Winery Notes: “2019 was another classic idyllic Napa Valley vintage to remember, able to hold his ground after following the tough act of 2018. A milestone into our history at Dalla Valle was made in 2019 as we dove into the world of Biodynamic farming. Our deep love and connection to this land lead us to begin this journey, and we have not looked back since. The elements of energy and vibrancy show in the 2019 vintage. A cool winter and mild rainy spring replenished our vines and provided them with the energy to sustain the heat of summer and perfectly ripen in the fall. The 2019 Collina is a harmonizing blend of the three varietals that we farm on the estate; the tension and precision of Cabernet Sauvignon, perfume and spices of Cabernet Franc, and the billowing mid palate textures of Petit Verdot. On the nose a fragrant mix of cardamom, bitter chocolate and strawberry confit jump out of the glass. Tannins are silky and elegant, typical of our terroir. Vibrant notes of Rhubarb pie, toasted hazelnut, and boysenberry are blended with savory tones influenced by the Cabernet Franc, which makes up 50% of the blend, followed by 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot. Collina Dalla Valle is an uncompromising example of the abilities of our vines and yet again overdelivers in the 2019 vintage.”
