The Hilt 2021 Pinot Noir “Radian Vineyard” Santa Rita Hills 97 Points

$104.99

Jeb Dunnuck 97 Points: “I loved the 2021 Pinot Noir Radian Vineyard, which has a vivid, perfumed, exotic bouquet of black raspberries, spring flowers, violets, graphite, and chalky minerality. I love its purity, and it’s medium-bodied, with an incredible sense of refinement and class and a great finish. Coming from a rocky hillside vineyard on the southern side of the Sta. Rita Hills, this incredible Pinot Noir will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and cruise in cold cellars over the following decade or more.”

Vinous 97 Points: “A bright, nervy wine, the 2021 Pinot Noir Radian captures all the natural intensity of this site on the far edge of the Sta. Rita Hills. Bright acids and veins of minerality infuse the 2021 with tremendous character. Dark red/purplish fruit, lavender, crushed rocks, graphite, and dried herbs are some of the many notes that race across the palate. This just sizzles with energy. It’s a great example from the western edge of the appellation.”

Rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, it has a great texture, polished tannins, and a great finish. This is another wine from this estate that readers should snatch up.”

Jeb Dunnuck 99 Points: “A bigger, richer, more structured wine, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder Estate Vineyard has brilliant black fruits, tobacco, iron, and subtle smoke-like nuances in a full-bodied, concentrated, layered package. This is pure Mountain Cabernet genius, and while it’s far from unapproachable today, it will benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age. Very juicy and bright, this shows ripe strawberry and bing cherry with prosciutto and green olive notes on the palate. Complex and delicious, this has a long way to go in the cellar. Vibrant, with a terrific mineral backbone, this weighs in at only 13.8% alcohol. Drink 2022-2035-“

Detert 2019 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville Napa Valley 95+ Points

$109.99

Vinous 95+ Points: “The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is another fabulous wine from Detert. It is a bit reticent today, but that should not be an issue in time. This classically built, medium to full-bodied Napa Valley Cabernet offers tons of depth as well as structure. It’s another super example of this sector of Oakville. The 2019 is not an immediate wine, though, so readers should plan on being patient.”

Adrien Renoir “Grand Cru Le Terroir” Champagne – Verzy, France 95 Points

$94.99

Robert Parker 95 Points:  “Disgorged in May 2019 with 2.5 grams per liter dosage, Renoir’s NV Extra-Brut Grand Cru Le Terroir is a 50-50 blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the slopes of Verzy, some 20% of which was vinified and matured in barrel. Unwinding in the glass with a lovely bouquet of Meyer lemon, pastry cream, yellow pear, dried white flowers, and shortbread, it’s full-bodied, powerful, and vinous, with a textural attack that segues into a deep and incisive mid-palate, complemented by an elegant pinpoint mousse. Long and penetrating, this is a beautifully balanced Champagne from this promising emerging talent”

Cobb 2021 Chardonnay “H. Klopp Vineyard” Sonoma Coast 97 Points

$69.99

Robert Parker 97 Points: “The 2021 Chardonnay H. Klopp Vineyard, from vines planted in classic Goldridge soils, is bursting with alluring, layered aromas: quince paste, honey, and white peach are complemented by accents of roasted almonds and graham cracker, and the palate matches that intensity with its highly concentrated, honeyed flavors. All that flavor is supported by a spine of vibrant acidity, and a touch of textural grip drives a very long finish. This is so delicious! 300 cases were made. “

Gemstone 2018 “Heritage Selection” Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 95 Points

$144.99

Vinous 95 Points: “The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Heritage Selection, from the back part of the property, is plump, juicy, and full of character. Inky dark fruit, mocha, floral notes and spice. All the elements come together so nicely. Picking a bit earlier than in the past helps preserve freshness as well as energy. Time in the glass brings out the wine’s volume and resonance. The juicy, creamy style works well here. Inky dark red/purplish fruit, spice, rose petal, and new leather builds into the resonant finish. I find a bit better balance here than in the Alluvial Selection.
