The latest Aurora bottling from Checkerboard made by Martha McClellan (FYI the first winemaker at CULT CLASSIC winery HARLAN ESTATE – now the wines at Harlan are made by her husband Bob Levy ) are a grand performance.
Aurora Vineyard is located in on Diamond Mountain on a large knoll at an elevation of 1,200 feet
Tasting Notes: The silky-smooth texture is reminiscent of the very best Cult Cabernets. The wine offers stunning aromas and flavors of black stone fruit and chocolate that are intertwined with sexy notes of spices, espresso beans and black currants. The wine is lush and full in body, I’d call it Rubenesque – Big & Bold from start to finish, extremely elegant with a lengthy fine-grained finish.
