“Carboniste” is a brand spanking new, very exciting sparkling wine project by husband and wife duo, Jacqueline and Dan Person. Dan was the longtime assistant winemaker Schramsberg (Napa Valley’s oldest & premium Sparkling wine producer) and quite some years at Larkmead. His wife worked as an invested consultant for a large winery. Together they decided to start something on their own, and handcraft some “modern-day” Sparkling wines. The packaging alone is innovative and fun!
The Wine: The 2018 Sparkling Pinot Noir is a gorgeous blend of Pinot Noir fruit from two vineyards in Santa Cruz and in Marin, with 15% Chardonnay from Marin to boot. The resulting blend is a fun, very approachable bubbly. On the nose bright aromas of rose petals, strawberries, bright red cherries, and guava. This might be a perfect Thanksgiving and/or end-of-the-year holiday wine.!
Winemaker Notes: “It’s a fun and fresh sparkling wine with notes of wild strawberries and guava. It pairs well with a wide range of fresh foods including uni, ginger stir fry, and summer barbeque.”
