Robert Parker 96-98+ Points: “Sugar Shack is produced from Montrachet clone vines grown in Rutherford AVA. It is aged in French oak barrels, 70% new. A barrel sample, the 2019 Chardonnay Sugar Shack has a fabulously flamboyant nose of juicy Bosc pears, ripe apricots and ginger cake with hints of orange blossoms, crème caramel and toasted almonds. The palate is concentrated, full-bodied and beautifully textured with loads of stone fruit and spice layers, finishing long with a chalkiness coming through on the finish..”
Vinous 97 Points: “The 2019 Chardonnay Sugar Shack balances the richness of this site with the cool nature of the year. Rich, oily and viscous, yet also incredibly gracious the Sugar Shack is arrestingly beautiful. Lemon confit, dried herbs, crushed rocks and tangerine oil open in the glass, but it is the wine’s balance that carries the day.”
Mark Aubert’s Tasting Notes: “The 2019 Sugar Shack captivates with alluring aromas of lemon oil, fresh pastry, salted caramel, and sun tea lined with subtle notes of acacia blossom, alfalfa extract, and beeswax. Across the palate you will find white peach, quince preserves, and lanolin oil. The density on the finish is braced by an exhilarating acidity, resulting in flawlessly balanced cut and length. The 2019 is a true testament to this site’s unique climate and soil. Drink this wine over the next 5 to 10 years. The wine is slightly hazy showing our commitment to minimal intervention winemaking.”
WINE WILL BE IN STOCK LAST WEEK OF FEBRURAY 2021
