Tasting Notes: A classic expression of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2018 Argot exhibits a series of Napa hallmarks — a piercing purity of black and red currant fruit; paradoxical textures that are both weightless and coating; complexities of ripe powerful blueberries and cassis – This Argot Cabernet is full-bodied, and loaded with black stone fruit, ripe and silky tannins, the right touch of well-balanced acidity. Although showing very well now, this wine offers some good aging potential. This wine is real BARGAIN!
Vineyards: A triptych of Napa terroirs—Suscol Mountain’s untamed slopes in the Valley’s southern climes; Sugarloaf West’s ferociously steep hillside; Bonny’s Vineyard’s ancient, gravel riverbed on Oakville’s floor; Sage Ridge’s wildly dramatic ridgetop in the far-eastern hillsides.
Winemaker Notes: Singularly great, 2018 is an all-time vintage, achieving rarely experienced heights. A mild summer gave way to Autumnal perfection, allowing both warmer and cooler sites to leisurely ripen crop under ideal conditions. What followed was a deeply developed palate of components that blended into a beautifully complex, complete wine. What arrives in the glass is nothing short of delicious, delivers significant value and massively over delivers. Enjoy!
Jeb Dunnuck 91+ Points: “The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is rock-solid, offering lots of black and blue fruits as well as notes of graphite, chocolate, and rocky minerality. Medium to full-bodied, it has a nicely concentrated, elegant texture, both tannins and acidity, and outstanding length. It’s going to benefit from short-term bottle age and keep for over a decade.”
