Gamay is a light-bodied red wine that is similar in taste to Pinot Noir. DNA analysis has shown that Gamay is a cross between Pinot Noir and Gouais Blanc. The grapes grow primarily next to Burgundy, France in a region known as Beaujolais. Gamay has been steadily growing in popularity in cool-climate regions such as France, Canada, Switzerland, Oregon, and New Zealand.

Gamay wines are loved for their delicate floral aromas and subtle earthy notes. This is a wine where a large part of the fruit character is derived from the aromas – and not as much in the taste. Gamay wine is best served in a large globe-shaped class which allows you to collect all the stunning fruity and flowery aromas. You can expect to smell violets, iris, and peony flowers all wrapped up in cherry, raspberry, and plum. When tasting the wine, you will find it light with a high acidity and tart flavors of red fruits with a subtle bitter note on the finish.
